Ramesh Chandra, Founder

Ramesh Chandra

Founder

Ramesh Chandra received his bachelor's in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras, India and his master's in computer science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is currently on leave from Stanford University, where he is a doctorate candidate in computer science. Ramesh has been a key contributor to the Stanford Collective system, a prototype of MokaFive's initial product, since its inception.

Jeff Friedsam

Vice President of Business Development

Jeff Friedsam brings over 14 years of high technology business experience to MokaFive. Most recently, Jeff spent nearly seven years at Cisco Systems in various marketing and business development roles. While in Marketing at Cisco, Jeff was responsible for the management, development and deployment of Cisco's global E-Marketing infrastructure used for marketing program execution. In Business Development at Cisco, Jeff was responsible for strategic partnerships designed to increase sales to business customers. Prior to Cisco, Jeff held various roles (primarily strategy, product management, direct marketing and business development) at BuyMedia, On Command, Idealab and AirWave Wireless. Jeff began his career as a Financial Analyst in the Hardware and Systems Group of boutique investment bank Robertson, Stephens & Company. Jeff holds an MBA from New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a BA from the University of Michigan.

Ravi Khatod brings more than 15 years of sales and executive leadership experience to MokaFive. Most recently, he was at IronPort Systems (acquired by Cisco Systems). As Vice President of Sales for the Email Compliance & Encryption product group, Ravi oversaw triple-digit sales growth and helped establish IronPort as the market leader in this category. Ravi came to IronPort through its acquisition of PostX, where he was Domestic Vice President of Sales. In this role, he led a reorganization of the enterprise sales force and oversaw the go-to-market strategy for a new appliance and host-based solution. During his tenure, PostX more than doubled revenues and grew its customer base five-fold-a performance that helped pave the way for PostX's acquisition by IronPort. Following the acquisition, Ravi led the integration of the sales teams while helping to define a new IronPort product and sales strategy. Prior to PostX, Ravi was Western Region Director of Sales for CipherTrust (acquired by Secure Computing), where he was responsible for developing and managing sales teams for both enterprise direct sales and channel for the SMB and mid-market. Ravi attended UCLA's Executive Business Management program and holds a bachelor's in economics from UC Santa Barbara.

Monica Lam, Ph.D., Founder and Chief Scientist

Founder and Chief Scientist

Monica Lam is a professor of computer science at Stanford University, joining the faculty in 1988. Her research passion is in making computing and programming easier. She co-authored the latest edition of the Dragon book, and is one of the top-50 most cited computer science researchers in the world. She helped found Tensilica, a leading configurable processor core company, on her last sabbatical in 1998. She holds a doctorate in computer science from Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor's in computer science from the University of British Columbia. She is a Fellow of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM).

Erik Oliver, J.D.

Vice President Intellectual Property

With over ten years of experience providing business-focused legal advice to high-technology clients, Erik is the chief legal officer for MokaFive with an emphasis on intellectual property. Prior to MokaFive, Erik held key legal positions at several companies, including Rambus, Synopsys, Numerical Technologies, and Tellme Networks. Prior to going inhouse, Erik worked in the Patent group at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. At Rambus, Erik led the patent development team responsible for patents at the technology licensing company. Prior to Rambus, Erik was the Chief IP & Litigation Counsel at Synopsys and his duties included management of patents, litigation and support for complex licensing transactions. Erik received his J.D. University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1998. Erik also received a masters of science degree in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Sciences in 1995 and a bachelor of science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Haverford College in 1994.

Purnima Padmanabhan

Purnima brings extensive experience in building teams that can define and deliver products based on a keen understanding of market dynamics & customer needs. As the VP of Products at MokaFive, Purnima is responsible for marketing, product management and user experience functions. Most recently, Purnima served as the Director of Product Management for BMC's Service Automation business where she drove business strategy, M&A, and product definition. Prior to BMC, Purnima held various marketing roles at Marimba, a software distribution vendor & Loudcloud, a managed services provider. Purnima has a Masters in Business Administration from Graduate School of Business, Stanford and Masters in Computer Engineering from University of Southern California.

Constantine Sapuntzakis, Ph.D., Founder

Founder

Constantine Sapuntzakis holds a doctorate in computer science from Stanford University. His doctorate dissertation introduced the concept of virtual appliances, or LivePCs, and demonstrated their effectiveness for managing computers. While working at Cisco Systems, Costa created the initial iSCSI specification in collaboration with a team from IBM. He also holds bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science from MIT.

John Whaley is responsible for the technical vision of MokaFive. He holds a doctorate in computer science from Stanford University, where he made key contributions to the fields of program analysis, compilers, and virtual machines. He is the winner of numerous awards including the Arthur L. Samuel Thesis Award for Best Thesis at Stanford, and has worked at IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center and Tokyo Research Lab. John was named one of the top 15 programmers in the USA Computing Olympiad. He also holds bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science from MIT and speaks fluent Japanese.

Dale Fuller, President & CEO

Dale Fuller is a leading technology executive with extensive experience in starting up and growing both technology and consumer businesses. He is responsible for leading MokaFives's overall strategy and guiding day-to-day operations. He also serves on the boards of Krugle, Phoenix Technologies, AVG, and Quest Aircraft Company. Most recently, he served as interim CEO of McAfee and CEO of Borland, both of which experienced huge shareholder value and revenue gains during his tenure. Dale has a track record of successfully starting companies. He has lead companies through crisis situations and directed turnarounds that resulted in substantial improvements in operational performance and increased shareholder value. In an earlier part of his career, he founded one of the leading community sites on the Internet, WhoWhere, later acquired by Lycos. As a start-up company CEO, Dale led the expansion of numerous domain sites, including Angelfire.com and Mailcity. He is a an active personal investor in approximately 60 different staged start-ups based in Silicon Valley, China, and India. He holds an honorary doctorate from St. Petersburg State University.
